1998 NBA ALL STAR 3-POINT CONTEST NEW YORK CITY

  • Winner: Jeff Hornacek (UTA)
  • Jeff Hornacek won with a minimum effort. In the second position, Hubert Davis made two impressive marks: 24 points in the semifinal (best score tied with Craig Hodges) and 10 points in the final, all time worst in the final round.
  • The Slam Dunk Contest was removed from this edition.

  • A huge contest by the rookie Tim Legler, allow him to win, in one of the best performance ever seen.
  • The first player with 20 or more points in each round.

  • Craig Hodges era had begun. The Bulls’ player won his first contest after five participations.
  • In the first round Jordan, out of his air, was eliminated with only 5 points (all-time contest worst score tied with Schrempf in 1988).
