- After the pre-game Kobe Bryant tribute, the game started with Kobe and Lebron James jumping in the opening tip.
- The first half was just like a light practice, an exhibition with no defense at all. Consequently, a lot of team scoring records were made in 2016: Most points in a half and most points in a quarter (single team and both teams) and most assists (team) in a half.
- The most points in a quarter record was particularly old: 50 points, West in 1970. Eight players scored at least 10 points, being Paul George the leading scorer with 16, including four 3 pointers in the first quarter.
- Chris Paul in the West team dished 9 assists in 9 minutes from the bench.
- The third quarter continued with the same style. Russell Westbrook and Paul George scoring a lot of 3-pointers en route to fight for the MVP trophy.
- West team broke again the record for most points in a quarter with 53.
- West had 20+ points margin in the last quarter scoring close to 200 points… Paul George achieved a new record, scoring nine 3-pointers and almost established the all-time scoring record for the game, but after a timeout in the last minute and a half, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green started playing strong defense on George, who could not score more than 41 points.
- Wilt Chamberlain’s 1962 record (42 points) still survived. At the end, the MVP was for the winner team best player, Russell Westbrook.
- MVP: Russell Westbrook (West)
