Ballot 2019

NBA ALL STAR VOTING RESULTS 2019 – CHARLOTTE

  • On Thursday, January 24, 2019, the NBA revealed the Starters and Captains for the 68th All-Star Game in Charlotte. As last year, LeBron James was voted team captain in the West. New to this role is Giannis Antetokounmpo (covered in this article) who received the most votes in the East.
  • With 4,620,809 fan votes, LeBron James becomes the player with the highest total fan votes received in one year, surpassing Dwight Howard’s 3,150,181 from 2009.
  • LeBron is the top vote getter the third time in a row. He won a total of 6 ballots in his career, which is the second place behind Michael Jordan, who was 9 times the top vote getter in his career.
  • The voting format and the easy accessible voting systems (Google, NBA.com, apps) resulted in extraordinary high voting results. The first eight players on the list with the 25 players receiving the most votes in a single year are now from 2019. In total 13 out of 25 players got the fan votes in 2019, with Michael Jordan no longer on the list after the 2019 ballot.
  • Luka Doncic received more than 4 (!) million votes, ranking him third overall, and he is not a starter. The reason is the Zaza rule (actually there is also another Zaza rule).
  • 1,395,330 fan votes were enough for Kemba Walker to become a starter. He received a lot more player and media votes than other players receiving more love from the fans.
  • The list below is sortable and can be filtered by Conference, Position, and Team.
